Iran Offers $30K Cash Bounty for Capture or Kill of American Troops – Doubled for Women

$30,000 in US dollars is on the table for anyone who captures or kills an American service member.

That’s the offer made by the Commander of Iran’s Army this morning.

And the bounty goes up to a whopping $60,000 USD if a woman is the one who pulls it off!

I’m not sure whether I should give a nod to the Mullah’s for letting women participate, or rather take offense on behalf of Iranian women who may consider the doubled prize money a slap in their collective faces?

Considering there are reportedly no US service members anywhere on the ground inside Iran, the sexism angle is probably more of a theoretical first world concern, anyway.

Army Chief Amir Hatami made the announcement to a group of Iranian officials, with the story being reported initially by the Iranian state news channel:

Considering the current state of Iran’s economy, if anyone did attempt to cash in, they would almost certainly request payment in US greenbacks, and not tomans.

I’m also fairly certain Iran would issue the payment in tomans.

All joking aside, with the situation in the Strait of Hormuz as tense as ever, Iran just took their normal rhetoric to an entirely new level.

Whether or not it is even possible for an Iranian to get their hands on a US service member is not the only question in play here.

An adversarial nation just put a price tag on the head of every US service member.

What are the chances that those proverbial ‘lone wolves’ we’re always hearing about decide to try their luck at cashing in somewhere else in the world?

That possibility is not likely to go over well in the next few rounds of Trump Administration morning briefings, or the decision-making sessions that come as a result of such briefings.

Another question begs asking — is there a particular official program in place that Iranians can take part in to try their luck at bagging an American?

Or, is this primarily meant as a DIY project?

I ask, because the Army Chief actually claimed in his announcement that this was a grassroots program of sorts, according to this from Fox News:

Iran’s military has announced a $30,000 reward for anyone who kills or captures a U.S. service member, with the bounty doubled if claimed by a woman, according to state media.

Army chief Amir Hatami said the program was created after requests from Iranians seeking to financially support such actions.

He did not specify where or when the attacks were expected to occur.

There is no known deployment of U.S. ground forces inside Iran beyond an April rescue mission for a downed American pilot, as fighting has remained concentrated in southern Iran and around the Strait of Hormuz. (Emphasis added.)

The Iranian Commander also mentioned “financial jihad” in his announcement.

This was presumably a reference to individuals he said who have sent in requests to create the bounty program, and who are putting up the money to fund the potential payouts.

You can catch that in this clip taken from the longer speech:

The Commander also promised that the weapon used in taking down an American service member would fetch three times the fair market value in a buy-back program.

And Hatami outlined special plans beyond the inflated purchase of whatever weapon might be used to make good on this cash offer, as reported by the New York Post:

Iranian army chief Amir Hatami said there were a “large number of requests” for bounties to be put on the American soldiers despite the lack of US ground forces in Iran.

“Courageous Iranian women who carry out such an action will receive double the reward,” he added.

The army chief even claimed that the weapon used to kill an American would be kept in a supposed museum currently under planning.

The 18 US troops who have died since the war with Iran began on Feb. 28 have all died outside the country in airstrikes and munition incidents.

The last time a US soldier was on Iranian soil was in April when an F-15E fighter jet went down, resulting in a quick rescue mission for its pilot and weapons specialist.

The bounty announcement comes after President Trump repeatedly accused Iran of struggling to pay its troops as the renewed US naval blockade continues to bleed the Islamic republic’s finances.

Imagine a nation making plans in advance to build a special MUSEUM, simply to house the relics that were once used to take down a SINGLE ENEMY SOLDIER.

If nothing else, that proves just how much respect the Iranians actually have for the United States Military.

As of now, there has been no response from President Trump or Administration officials on the $30K/$60K cash bounties.

There will likely be a fury of questions waiting for President Trump during the morning news cycle.

I’ll be waiting for that shoe to drop — and we’ll let you know how it all plays out.

But it might drop from a plane, and not a microphone.
