Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) is reportedly seeking an appointment to Sen. Marsha Blackburn’s seat if she becomes Tennessee governor.

According to Punchbowl News, Burchett will “absolutely” campaign against the appointee if he’s not selected.

The appointee would fill Blackburn’s seat until the 2028 election, whose winner would serve the final two years of the term.

There have been rumors that Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, who established residency in Tennessee in 2022, is also seeking the appointment.
