Federal agents say they uncovered more than 100 files containing suspected child sexual abuse material during a search of the home of a former Pennsylvania state lawmaker Tuesday.
Jesse White, a Democrat who represented parts of Allegheny, Beaver and Washington counties in the Pennsylvania House from 2008 to 2014, has been charged with offenses related to child sexual abuse material.
According to a federal affidavit, the FBI received two cyber tips that allegedly traced suspected illegal material to White’s cellphone.
The following day, agents executed a federal search warrant at White’s home in Mechanicsburg.
Investigators seized multiple electronic devices and hard drives, where they allegedly found more than 100 files containing suspected child sexual abuse material involving minors, according to the affidavit.
During an interview with investigators, White allegedly admitted using Telegram, qBittorrent, and the Tor browser to access the “dark web” and view what he described as “inappropriate content.”
White later told agents that the “inappropriate content” was child pornography, according to the affidavit.
