‘Everybody’s Quiet’: Van Jones Blasts Democrats After Mamdani ‘Stabbed’ Supporter ‘In The Back’

image-304.jpg

As antisemitism and socialism gain a serious foothold within the Democrat Party ahead of this year’s midterm elections, even leftists like former Obama adviser and current CNN talking head Van Jones are feeling left out.

He’s been increasingly outspoken in his criticism of the party, including the widespread silence that followed what he described as New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s betrayal of Rep. Adriano Espaillat (D-NY) by endorsing fellow socialist candidate Darializa Chevalier.

As Breitbart reported:

He added, “I just want to say that there was a shockwave through this party when Mamdani, who everybody’s excited about, stabbed in the back, Espaillat, who…was the chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, beloved by everybody, who backed Mamdani. Mamdani said, I will back you. Then he turns around, stabs him in the back. And backed Chevalier, who has no credentials, except she’s known for having celebrated October 7 murders of Israelis on October 8, and never apologized. This sent a shockwave through the party. People said, hold on a second, why, of all the people in New York City, would Mamdani pick this person to betray someone? And then no one says anything. Everybody’s quiet.”

Here’s the viral clip:

CNN’s Van Jones BLASTS socialist Democrats: “I am tired, tired, tired of a set of people on the very far left in the Democratic party… ideas that are literally insane. Nutty. Moronic. Dangerous. Bigoted. They are not progressive, they are regressive and they should not be in… pic.twitter.com/mpsMDXjnpv

And here’s his subsequent clarification:

This weekend I shared a post voicing my concerns about the far left. The response has been overwhelming. Leaders in both parties called to tell me the same thing: this stuff has gone too far.

To be clear: I'm a progressive Democrat. My whole life, I've wanted to see a youth… pic.twitter.com/RZXKQw5DSB

Here’s the full text from the post above:

This weekend I shared a post voicing my concerns about the far left. The response has been overwhelming. Leaders in both parties called to tell me the same thing: this stuff has gone too far.

To be clear: I’m a progressive Democrat. My whole life, I’ve wanted to see a youth movement fight for affordability, for healthcare, for real opportunity. It’s time! The system has utterly failed the next generation. Young people deserve real change — and they are right to fight for a better future.

But the movement is being hijacked by too many people with insane, outlandish and nutty ideas that have nothing to do with affordability, climate solutions or health care.

For example: Mamdani picked a DSA candidate who wants to abolish the police, empty every prison, erase every border and discourage interracial dating. Okayyyy … So clearly, Chevalier has no problem condemning things! UNLESS it’s a designated terrorist organization. Believe it or not: Chevalier has refused to denounce the terror group Hamas — four times. That’s INSANE — and progressives can’t be afraid to call nonsense like that out.

Supporting Hamas is NOT progressive. The idea of “no police, no prisons, no borders” — which would let pedophiles, human traffickers, terrorists, hate groups and crime syndicates run wild — is NOT progressive for vulnerable communities. Celebrating the murder of Israeli civilians is NOT progressive. These ideas are REGRESSIVE.

If we can’t tell right from wrong, good from bad, smart from loony tunes — Team Blue will go down the same road that turned the Republican Party into a shell of itself.

We can’t let that happen to the Democratic Party.

Meanwhile, Chevalier is not willing to say that she’ll back the party’s current leadership, as AOL reported a few weeks ago:

Darializa Avila Chevalier on Saturday said she would need to check with the community before backing House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) for the speakership if Democrats regain the majority.

The democratic socialist, who defeated incumbent Rep. Adriano Espaillat (D-N.Y.) by winning her primary last week, said she has close ties to New York’s 13th congressional district and would consult them before making moves in the legislature.

“I was really focused on my primary until just last night. I do think that those are types of decisions that you have to really discuss with their community, right” Avila Chevalier said during a Saturday appearance on “The Joy Reid Show.”

“It’s not a question about how any one individual feels personally,” she added. “These are conversations that I’m having with the people who are impacted by these types of decisions.”

And here’s a clip of her more recent remarks on the matter:

Democrat socialist Darializa Avila Chevalier refuses to say if she supports Hakeem Jeffries in leadership:

Q: Should Hakeem Jeffries be Speaker?

AVILA CHEVALIER: "I wanna make sure that I'm making that vote with the considerations of the community in mind." pic.twitter.com/yLhhBEXI4X
