Just months after celebrating the nation’s 250 anniversary, President Donald Trump is preparing for a much more somber commemoration.

Next month, Trump is expected to attend a 9/11 memorial service at the Pentagon rather than Ground Zero in New York City.

According to the New York Post:

President Trump plans to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks at the Pentagon next month, The Post has learned.

Trump is not expected to attend the Manhattan memorial service held annually at Ground Zero, the site of the World Trade Center towers that were brought down by the two hijacked airplanes, according to a source familiar.

News of the plans soon spread via social media:

But multiple sources said that the museum’s ultimate goal is to avoid any partisanship at the ceremonies, with politicians banned from speaking since 2012.

Vice President JD Vance will represent the Trump administration at the New York ceremony instead, while ex-Presidents Bill Clinton, Barack Obama and George W Bush are expected to attend.
