Canada Broadcasting Corporation Orders Staff NOT to Refer to 9/11 as a “Terrorist Attack”

This is insane.

Ahead of the upcoming 25th anniversary of 9/11, the Canada Broadcasting Network (CBC) is reportedly telling its staffers not to call it what it was: a terrorist attack!

Instead, the network, which is funded by Canadian taxpayers, is instructing staff to refer to the events of September 11, 2001 as a mere “hijacking” or “crash.”

Eric Daugherty on X shared the details:

🚨
OMG. The taxpayer-funded Canada Broadcasting Corporation has officially directed staff to NOT call 9/11 a terrorist attack

They want personnel to call it a "hijacking": "Do not refer to the Sept. 11 attacks as terrorist attacks."
😡

"Crashes" is also an acceptable way to… pic.twitter.com/VjlyHpixzb

“Crashes” is also an acceptable way to phrase it, per internal memo obtained by NYP

NOT HOW AN ALLY ACTS!

They want to wipe clean Islamic terror against America!

The directive comes from an internal memo sent by CBC executive Basem Boshra to employees.

The New York Post reported further on the contents of that memo and the network’s defense of its decision:

The public broadcaster reaffirmed that it would avoid using words like “terrorist” and “terrorism” when describing events, directing its staffers to follow the longstanding company policy that previously landed them in hot water during their Oct. 7, 2023, coverage.

“Do not refer to the Sept. 11 attacks as terrorist attacks,” the memo read. “The hijackings led to passenger jet crashes in Washington, D.C., Pennsylvania and Manhattan. The World Trade Center (WTC in second reference) was destroyed.”

The memo was signed, “BB,” which the Toronto Sun, which first published the letter, identified as Basem Boshra, senior director of journalistic standards and public Trust at CBC News.

CBC defended the memo as a reminder to its journalists to adhere to the decades-old practice, claiming that using charged phrases like “terrorist attacks” would diminish their ability to remain impartial.

“Our focus is to report the facts of such atrocities with accuracy, clarity and detail; to convey the scale and scope of violent acts wherever they occur; to quote the people affected, and to convey the views of officials and experts on these events. We bear witness,” Kerry Kelly, a public affairs spokesperson for CBC, told The Post.

“But CBC News does not itself designate specific groups as terrorists, or specific acts as terrorism, regardless of the region or the events, because these words are so loaded with meaning, politics and emotion that they can end up being impediments to our journalism.”

CBC’s lame attempt to defend this order isn’t fooling anyone.

Make no mistake: this is not a journalistic effort to remain “impartial.”

In fact, it’s quite the opposite.

Refusing to call a major terrorist attack that killed thousands of people serves only one purpose — erasing history, one narrative at a time.

FBI Director Kash Patel had some things to say in response:

Any agency in Canada that doesn’t publicly reject this bastardization of history, and an insult to the souls lost during our largest terrorist attack in US history will no longer have friend in this FBI… Not to mention our heroes that responded in the aftermath

WE WILL NEVER…

Well put, Kash!

Meanwhile, Canada and the left are outraged that President Trump decided to rename Lake Ontario to Lake America.
