Wrestling legend Ric Flair was rushed to a Florida hospital Friday after a frightening fall outside a Tampa restaurant.

The 77-year-old WWE Hall of Famer reportedly suffered cuts to his head and eye. His eye was bleeding heavily, and emergency crews took him away by ambulance.

The first public look at the developing story came with a photo from the scene and the confirmation that Flair had been hospitalized:

TMZ reports that Flair had been at Wagamama in Tampa on Friday morning. According to sources cited by the outlet, he got up from the bar, left his phone and drink behind, walked across the street, and suddenly fell.

The fall reportedly left Flair with cuts to his head and around one eye. TMZ says a concussion is possible, but that has not been confirmed.

There is also no established cause of the fall, and no medical authority has linked it to the blood clot Flair disclosed earlier in the day.

Emergency medical personnel gathered around Flair at the scene before loading him into an ambulance. TMZ had not reported a discharge, prognosis, or confirmed diagnosis when it marked the report as a developing story.

TMZ published this 21-second video from the scene showing the emergency response and Flair being loaded into an ambulance:

The timing makes this especially alarming. Only hours before the fall, Flair announced that doctors had restricted his travel because of a blood clot in his leg.

Flair’s own same-day post is the key timeline marker. The visible X preview confirms that he said he was dealing with a blood clot in his leg after apologizing for canceling a scheduled Seattle appearance:

I Want To Sincerely Apologize To My Agent, Steve Solomon, Washington State Horror Con @wahorrorcon, @bigeventny, And Especially All My Fans In Seattle For Having To Cancel My Scheduled Appearance.

Unfortunately, I Am Dealing With A Blood Clot In My Leg, And My Doctors Have…

F4W/Wrestling Observer reports that Flair said his doctors had limited him to trips of three to four hours, putting Seattle outside the permitted range. He also said he was scheduled for a procedure involving the affected vein and hoped that treatment would eventually clear him for longer travel.

The same condition had already kept Flair from attending the Cauliflower Alley Club’s annual reunion over the summer. Based in Florida, he had continued making appearances closer to home while avoiding the longer West Coast trip.

No hospital, family member, or representative had released a medical update confirming a concussion or explaining what caused the fall as of publication.

There is also a revealing bit of recent history. Back in August, Flair posted a video insisting that a “little blood clot” would not keep him from flying to an appearance in Philadelphia:

A Little Blood Clot Is Not Going To Keep Me From Coming to Philly! See You At @DynastySportsPA With Steve Solomon Sports Group! WOOOOO! @bigeventny pic.twitter.com/fh6IBAIETB

Flair has survived major health crises before, including a life-threatening 2017 hospitalization. But a hard fall, significant bleeding around the eye, and a possible head injury are serious at any age—especially for a 77-year-old already managing a blood clot.

For now, the responsible conclusion is the simplest one: Flair fell, suffered visible injuries, and was transported to a hospital. The concussion remains only a possibility, and the reason he went down remains unknown.

This is a developing story. We are praying for the Nature Boy and will update this report when verified information on his condition becomes available.
