WATCH: Sen. John Kennedy SCHOOLS CBS’ Margaret Brennan On the SAVE America Act

Sen. John Kennedy just completely owned fake news reporter Margaret Brennan.

During a Sunday appearance on CBS News, Brennan tried to trap Sen. Kennedy into a ‘gotcha’ question about the SAVE America Act, which would implement long-overdue measures to secure the integrity of our federal elections.

“Won’t it hurt our faith in elections?” she asked, after calling the bill “highly controversial” and “highly partisan.”

But, Sen. Kennedy was ready.

He calmly and coolly explained that the SAVE America Act is really not that controversial, at all.

In fact, it would solve two very important issues with voting in our country: requiring people to prove that they really are who they say they are to vote, and ensuring that Election Day means Election Day, not month!

Watch Sen. Kennedy’s full response here:

“THAT is what the SAVE Act is all about. I think we can pass it and craft it in a way [for reconciliation]. We’re not gonna know if we don’t try!”

Why is Margaret Brennan so eager to support cheating?!

Nobody could have explained it better than that!

Sen. Kennedy is truly a national gem. We need more like him in Congress!

His remarks come as the SAVE America Act has stalled in the Senate.

Pressure is mounting on Senate Majority Leader John Thune to get it through soon — before it’s too late to go into effect for midterms.

The Hill has more on the current situation:

Thune said he’s working with Democrats to craft a bipartisan stopgap bill in a push to keep the government funded. If this bill fails to pass, he said he is open to using the party-line reconciliation measure instead.

The South Dakota Republican has also been facing pressure from lawmakers and the White House to pass the government funding bill and third reconciliation bill, as well as the SAVE America Act. He said last week that the budget resolution does not have the 50 votes needed to advance.

As for the president’s election bill, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt has said Trump’s “patience is running out.” Trump himself later urged the Senate to adopt the budget resolution to set up reconciliation with the SAVE America Act attached.

“I am asking that the Senate adopt a Budget Resolution, which can pass with a simple Majority, before leaving for the August recess,” Trump wrote on Truth Social on Friday. “We are ready to work side-by-side with the Senate to get this done for the American People!”
