A driver’s dashcam captured the horrifying moment a Learjet 60 plunged out of the sky and exploded beside a busy road in Palm Beach County, Florida.
The jet went down in the Greenacres area shortly before 1 p.m. Sunday, just feet from passing vehicles and homes.
All nine people aboard were killed, according to U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy.

Fox News aired the dashcam recording, which shows the aircraft dropping almost vertically before a fireball erupts near the roadway. The video appears to show how narrowly the jet missed motorists traveling through the area.
The crash happened near South Military Trail between Cresthaven Boulevard and 10th Avenue North. Emergency crews closed the roadway in both directions while firefighters and investigators moved into the scene.
The impact occurred in a densely traveled area surrounded by homes, making the absence of an immediate ground-casualty count especially significant.
The aircraft was a Learjet 60 registered as N722BD. It had departed Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Texas and was bound for North Eleuthera Airport in the Bahamas, according to federal officials.
Duffy confirmed the devastating death toll Sunday afternoon.
The Associated Press reported that the business jet nose-dived into the South Florida neighborhood and erupted into a massive fireball. The impact left burning debris and a crater near the roadway as thick black smoke covered the area.
Officials had not immediately announced whether anyone on the ground was killed or injured. Authorities also had not publicly identified the passengers or crew aboard the aircraft as of Sunday afternoon.
It is hard to watch the video and not recognize how much worse this could have been on the ground. The jet appears to miss nearby homes before striking only inches from traffic.
Local video showed the scale of the emergency response and the burning crash site after impact:
WFLX reported that Palm Beach County Fire Rescue described the response as an extended incident and urged drivers to avoid the area. The station said flames, heavy smoke and aircraft debris were visible across the roadway.
The Federal Aviation Administration sent a team to the scene to support the National Transportation Safety Board, which will lead the investigation. The cause of the crash remains unknown.
Preliminary radar information indicated that the aircraft entered an extremely rapid descent during its final moments. Those early data points do not explain why the jet lost control, and investigators will need to examine the wreckage, flight records and any available cockpit evidence before reaching a conclusion.
For now, nine families are facing an unimaginable loss.
