The search for a missing plane that mysteriously went missing continues.

The U.S. Coast Guard has launched a search mission for a missing medical transfer plane that went missing during a flight from Bermuda to Boston.

On Saturday debris from the plane that went missing was discovered by the U.S. Coast Guard off the coast of Massachusetts.

The debris was not found in what is commonly known as the Bermuda Triangle but rather 1,000 miles outside of the area where planes have mysteriously gone missing over the last century.

The New York Times reported more on the missing plane:

Search crews with the United States Coast Guard have found debris from a medical transfer plane that went missing while flying six people from Bermuda to Boston, officials said Saturday evening.

The search for the plane began after the Federal Aviation Administration issued an alert around 1:20 a.m. after losing contact with the aircraft, a Gulfstream G100. The search was taking place off the coast of Nantucket on Saturday, the Coast Guard said earlier in the day, adding that it had deployed planes, a helicopter and two boats, some sent from a station in Cape Cod.

The missing plane was operated by an Ontario-based medical evacuation company, Latitude Air Ambulance, which flies people to hospitals and offers repatriation services, according to its website.

On board the plane were two Canadian pilots, two Canadian medical staff members, and two people — including a patient — whom the plane had picked up in Bermuda, according to Clarence Togeretz, the air ambulance company’s operations manager.
