Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) on Tuesday won the Arizona GOP gubernatorial primary, setting up a highly-anticipated showdown with Gov. Katie Hobbs in November’s election.
Biggs, who secured an endorsement from President Trump, defeated Rep. David Schweikert (R-AZ), businessman Scott Neely, and Ken Miceli.
NBC News shared further:
Arizona will be among the most closely-watched gubernatorial elections this year.
“Republicans are already eyeing Arizona as one of their biggest gubernatorial pickup opportunities after Rep. Andy Biggs quickly locked up the GOP nomination with President Donald Trump’s endorsement,” Fox News wrote.
“The state is shaping up to once again be a major battleground. Another Trump-backed candidate, Jay Feely, also won a Republican primary for an Arizona House seat as Democrats look to regain control of the House while the Senate remains a toss-up. With economic concerns expected to remain the top issue for voters, both parties are preparing for another high-stakes fight in Arizona,” it continued.
