Supposedly prestigious liberal media outlets are more focused on inciting racial panic and spreading left-wing racial ideology than they are on telling people the truth and keeping them informed about what is actually happening. The Associated Press, which holds far too much weight over the American media landscape, is the most recent offender.
In a two-minute video posted to Twitter/X, Associated Press “journalist” Sarah Jones-Smith covered the death of Tasia Fortune, a black woman in Mississippi who was found hanging from a tree. In it, Jones-Smith repeatedly invoked historical lynchings.
A direct quote: “Although Fortune’s mother, Christy Spivey, says she doesn’t think her daughter’s death was racially motivated, for many black people, the imagery of a rope and noose evokes the legacy of lynching and vigilante violence against black people in the U.S.” (Emphasis added).
‘WHO CARES’ ABOUT SYSTEMIC RACISM WHEN IT BENEFITS MINORITIES?
We know that Fortune’s homicide was not racially motivated, though, because the man who was arrested for allegedly killing her is black. Nowhere in the video does Jones-Smith point this out, nor do they show the man’s mugshot. The video even acknowledges that the suspect was arrested right before that aforementioned quote, treating the possible racial motivations of the crime as an open-ended question rather than an obviously debunked theory.
Not only that, but both Jones-Smith and other “journalists” covering this topic have heavily implied (but been careful not to explicitly say) that police departments are lying about other cases where black people have been found dead by hanging being suicides.
Here is Corey Williams and Kristin M. Hall in their coverage for the AP: “Police in some of those cases have quickly deemed them suicides – often eliciting historically grounded skepticism.” Their coverage at least admits that the man who killed Fortune is black, though they still invoke lynchings “regardless of the circumstances.”
Their coverage also includes the Ben Crump-led attempt to racialize the death of 18-year-old Nolan Wells, where Crump and his ilk are suggesting that the black teen was killed or left for dead by his white friends. It is racial grift all the way down, from the invocation of historical lynchings to the supposed “experts” the Associated Press brings in to discuss these cases.

There is no attempt to inform people about Fortune’s death or the facts in any of these cases. All that is in this coverage are implications of potential secret racist plots and attempts to scare black people by invoking the real lynchings that occurred generations ago.
You are not more informed if you consume the Associated Press’s coverage of these cases, but the left-wing “journalists” at the outlet hope you are more scared, enough that you make your way to the ballot box to vote for Democrats in November.
