SEE IT: Did Tim Walz Just Pee His Pants?

Governor Tim Walz speaks with young people at Vikings training camp

There are embarrassing photos, and then there are photos your own daughter posts for the entire Internet to inspect.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz finished the Twin Cities 10 Mile alongside his daughter Hope. The smiling post-race picture should have been a harmless family moment.

Instead, everybody noticed the same thing: a dark wet mark covering the front of Walz’s gray shorts and running down the inner thighs.

So, did Tim Walz just pee his pants?

The honest answer is that the photo alone cannot prove it. The mark could be sweat or spilled water.

Neither Walz nor his daughter appears to have explained it publicly.

But the picture is real. This was not an AI fake invented by somebody on X.

Hope Walz’s own Instagram post shows the image on her @hopewalz account with a cheerful caption calling it the best race ever after Sunday’s event.

Walz stands next to his daughter on a paved path wearing his finisher’s medal, a black long-sleeve running shirt, gray shorts and a cap.

The dark patch that set off the Internet is plainly visible in that original upload, rather than appearing only in a cropped screenshot or anonymous repost. It covers the front of the shorts and extends down both inner thighs.

The father and daughter are smiling, and nothing in Hope’s caption suggests she was trying to embarrass him or call attention to the mark. She presented the image as a proud family race-day moment.

The post remained publicly viewable Thursday morning, two days after the online reaction erupted, at the same Instagram URL linked above. Hope’s caption says nothing about the stain, while neither her account nor Walz’s public account offers an explanation for it.

That direct source matters because reposted screenshots can be altered, cropped or stripped of context before they race across social media. Here, the viral image matches the picture attached to the daughter’s own post.

That settles the authenticity question. It does not settle the bodily-fluid question — no matter how confident the Internet may be.

Nick Sortor put the question rather bluntly:

Can ANYONE explain to me why Tim Walz’s daughter posted a photo of him pissing his pants?

Is this some sort of humiliation ritual?

And YES, this IS real

The placement of the mark did Walz no favors. A little splash near the knee or a random stripe from a water cup would have invited far fewer questions.

Instead, it is centered exactly where you would not want a mysterious stain centered in a photograph viewed by millions of strangers.

Another X user summed up the political reaction:

Guys, Tim Walz’s daughter just posted a photo of him pissing his pants.

There is one correction worth making amid all the jokes: Walz did not run a marathon. He ran the 10-mile race held during Twin Cities Marathon weekend.

The magazine’s 2026 results coverage reported that more than 18,000 people finished the combined Twin Cities Marathon weekend races. Walz completed the 10-miler in 1:26:15, maintaining an 8:45-per-mile pace for the entire course.

That put the 62-year-old governor 2,134th overall in a large field stretching from elite racers to recreational participants. Hope finished only 11 seconds behind him in 1:26:26.

The 10-mile race began Sunday morning before the full marathon ran from Minneapolis to St. Paul. Leo Goodman won the men’s 10-mile race in 49:14, while Elizabeth Klecker took the women’s title in 57:33.

Victor Shitsama won the men’s marathon in 2:12:20, and Lilian Chebii won the women’s race in 2:25:26. Those winning times show how far Walz was from the elite pack, but they do not diminish a strong age-group effort.

His performance also improved sharply from the previous year’s event, when he and Hope crossed in 1:38:12. This time he cut nearly 12 minutes from that result and edged his 25-year-old daughter at the finish.

That race record supplies important context for the picture now circulating online. Walz had just spent nearly an hour and a half running hard, so heavily sweat-soaked shorts would hardly be shocking on their own.

For a 62-year-old man, that is genuinely impressive. It also means he had been running hard for nearly an hour and a half before the picture was taken, which makes sweat a perfectly plausible explanation.

Then again, look at the photo and tell me you do not understand why people reached the other conclusion.

Kevin Dalton said he initially dismissed the viral image because so much online content is fake or AI-generated now. Then he found out this one was authentic:

Because everything is fake and or AI, I spent a full day thinking Tim Walz didn’t actually pee his pants running a marathon.

Walz himself celebrated the run on X with a simple message: “Still got it!”

Apparently he does. He beat his 25-year-old daughter over 10 miles, collected the medal and smiled for the camera.

He just may have wanted to check the picture before letting Hope hit “post.”

What do you think — sweat, water, or exactly what it looks like?
