Another top military official is reportedly leaving his post.

According to a new report from the Wall Street Journal, U.S. Army Secretary Dan Driscoll is expected to step down by the end of the year.

This comes after months of alleged contention with Secretary of War Pete Hegseth.

One sign that Driscoll is planning his exit is the fact that he has already moved his family out of the official residence for the Army Secretary.

Driscoll also had a close working relationship with ex-Army Chief of Staff Gen. Randy George, whom Secretary Hegseth fired back in April.

Here’s more from the exclusive Wall Street Journal report:

Army Secretary Dan Driscoll is expected to step down from his role by the end of the year, if not sooner, after months of tension with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, according to people familiar with the discussions.

Driscoll’s departure would leave the Army without a Senate-confirmed leader. Hegseth fired Gen. Randy George as the Army’s chief of staff in April without explanation, and President Trump hasn’t nominated a replacement. Gen. Christopher LaNeve, the Army vice chief who was formerly Hegseth’s senior military aide, is serving as acting Army chief of staff.

Driscoll and his family this summer moved out of the large family house reserved for the Army secretary at Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall, a military post adjacent to Arlington Cemetery where several top defense officials live, the people said. His family relocated to North Carolina over the summer. Driscoll moved into a smaller apartment on base.

Spokesmen for the Pentagon and for Driscoll declined to comment.

A longtime friend of Vice President JD Vance, Driscoll drew scorn from Hegseth in the early days of the Trump administration after Driscoll offered to organize a visit by Vance and Trump to meet soldiers and talk about reforming the Army, The Wall Street Journal previously reported.

Another sign of his tumultuous relationship with Pete Hegseth came last year, when Dan Driscoll told Politico‘s Dasha Burns that he sees zero difference between men and women in combat.

As you probably know, this is very different from what Pete Hegseth has repeatedly said!

Laura Loomer shared this breakdown in December:

Earlier this week, I released an exclusive report about how Army Secretary Dan Driscoll @SecArmy has been aggressively working to undermine Secretary of War Pete Hegseth in an effort to steal his job. My report has since gone viral, and high level sources at @DeptofWar tell me it is the talk of the town at the Pentagon this week.

.@SecWar @PeteHegseth recently went on @katiemillerpod and talked about the differences between men and women in combat.

He said, “My stance has been the standards need to be universally high, and I mean at the male standard high. If that excludes females, then so be it. That’s not the intent, but it could be the effect. And that’s okay.”

That’s not what Army Secretary @SecArmy Dan Driscoll recently said.

Driscoll told Politico’s @DashaBurns
in a recent interview there is “no difference” between men and women in combat because he “couldn’t tell the difference between the men and women” at a Ranger school training.

Wow. The Army Secretary is pushing woke gender nonsense while Hegseth is trying to create elite, super warriors who can defend our nation from our enemies.

I really hope we never see a day where Dan Driscoll replaces Pete Hegseth, or else we’re going to have a bunch of feminists on the battlefield and our nation will be captured.

That’s the ultimate fantasy of Driscoll’s best buddy Jake Sullivan @jakejsullivan.

After reports broke that Driscoll is leaving, Loomer shared this update:

JUST IN:

US Army Secretary Dan Driscoll is reportedly planning on stepping down before the end of the year.

Over the last year and half, he has had a very tumultuous relationship with Secretary of War Pete Hegseth @PeteHegseth that has spilled over into the media. https://t.co/wcEMDwYRHw

What do you think?

Is this Driscoll’s reported exit good for the military?
