California Gov. Gavin Newsom, a far-left Democrat who is known to have aspirations for higher office, has made it official: his state has endorsed Muslim holidays and officially honors them.
“This is really disconcerting,” Rabbi Michael Barclay said in a report at CBN.
“Ramadan is not a month of peace; in fact, al-Qaida calls it the month of conquests,” he explained. “And it’s a horrible statement about California and about our politicians who are pandering for whatever money or votes they think they can get from the Islamic community.”
Newsom has signed legislation from his leftist cadre of Democrat lawmakers making Eid al-Fitre and Eid al-Ahda official California holidays.
They both mark Islamic religious events.
Explained CBN, “Commentators like Barclay argue that recognizing these Muslim holidays puts Islamic traditions on a special tier above Christian and Jewish holidays. The push to elevate Islam appears to result from a growing alliance between Muslim advocacy groups and political progressives.”

The California branch of CAIR, the Council on America-Islamic Relations, praised the move.
The national CAIR was recognized as an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation terror funding case, and has been declared a terror organization itself by several governments.
CBN noted, “California has a smaller percentage of Muslims compared to Christians and Jews, and yet major Islamic holidays have now received state-level recognition without equivalent status for other faith traditions.”
Another plan would recognize Jewish holidays of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur but still would not grant them the same honored status as the Muslim holidays.
According to the CBN reporto, California does not officially recognize Christmas or other Christian holidays as paid state holidays.
Muslims make up about 1% of California’s population, Christians are 55%, and Jews are closer to 3%, the report said.
