The Nobel committee on Friday confirmed that it has gone all-in on hating Israel in its pick of a “genocide”-claiming lawyer for this year’s peace prize.
Navanethem “Navi” Pillay, 85, who headed a United Nations team that wildly alleged Israel committed genocide in Gaza, took home the prize.
Nobel committee members cited “her efforts to promote peace and international law.”
An X account assigned to the prime minister of Israel erupted with, “The Nobel Prize committee has lost its moral compass. It has awarded its highest honor to a bigot who built her career around inventing and propagating blood libels against the one and only Jewish state.”
In fact, Pillay has become another in a long line of international figures, many of them at the United Nations, who repeatedly have delivered vicious attacks on Israel, while ignoring atrocities in other countries.
UN Watch described Pillay’s claims against Israel as “biased.”
Commentator Joel Pollak called it “Another Nobel Prize flop.”
And commentator Mario Nawful cited allegations against Pillay concerning a case regarding ex-ICC prosecutor Karim Khan.
President Donald Trump whose work settling a number of wars around the world was ignored, repeated commentary from his law firm: “Today the Nobel Committee shamed itself beyond repair and demeaned the once great Nobel Peace Prize by giving it to the UN’s Navi Pillay. Pillay is an unabashed hater of America and Israel. In her position she celebrated terrorists and rewarded Hamas. She conducted a phony ‘investigation’ claiming to find that Israel committed genocide and urging prosecution. She has no credibility in any normal sphere and has never done a thing to foster peace.”
It continued, “President Trump gave us the Abraham Accords, which the world said would be impossible and is now expanding them! He brought home the hostages when all seemed hopeless! He is making best efforts to end the Russia/Ukraine war, to stop Iran, the number one sponsor of international terrorism, and he is trying to rebuild Gaza despite the terrorists’ best efforts to control it. The list goes on and on.”
A report from Fox News said the Nobel committee claimed “strong international judicial institutions must be able to enforce the rule of law to have any hope of mediating the growing number of wars…”
Fox noted Pillay’s work with the “UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory.”
Her work produced a condemnation of Israel for its “genocide” in Gaza.
That description aligns with what terrorists who defend Hamas’ terror attack on Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, and their slaughter of some 1,200 innocent civilians and kidnapping of hundreds more say about Israel’s defense following that violence.
Pillay claimed, in conflict with the evidence, “It is clear that there is an intent to destroy the Palestinians in Gaza through acts that meet the criteria set forth in the Genocide Convention.”
Israel condemned her opinion as “distorted and false.”
The report said Nitsana Darshan-Leitner, president of the Israel-based Shurat HaDin Law Center, cast doubt on the Nobel Committee’s decision to award Pillay the peace prize.
“A peace prize should honor those who build peace, not those accused of turning Israel into a defendant in a campaign of political delegitimization,” said Darshan-Leitner, whose organization has led protest campaigns in Geneva against Pillay. “What peace, exactly, has she brought? The Middle East remains engulfed in conflict, and the region is nowhere near the peace this prize supposedly celebrates.”
Pillay also early years as a defense lawyer in South Africa and represented anti-apartheid activisits. She later was on the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda. Then she was appointed to protect human rights for the United Nations.
There, she condemned the United States for funding Israel’s Iron Dome program to protect its citizens from terror attacks.
The last American president to win the award was Barack Obama, who was given the honor days after he took office and before any of his policies were impactful.
