Despite claims by Texas U.S. Senate candidate James Talarico that he now favors banning gender surgery for minors and opposes biological men competing in women’s sports, a recent undercover video reveals the Democrat plans on pushing pro-transgender policies if elected.

Daily Caller video from September shows a woman with a hidden camera asking Talarico at a campaign event: “I have a niece who’s trans. I wanna let her know that our government hears her. Can I count on you to support her?”

“Always,” replied Talarico emphatically. “The way I fought for trans kids in the legislature is how I will fight for them in the U.S. Senate. And my position hasn’t changed.

“I still think these should be local decisions, sport by sport, athlete by athlete. And I think I have the most inclusive policy of any candidate who’s running.”

He concluded: “My views, my positions haven’t changed and I’m gonna have your loved one’s back.”

But on Sept. 9, Talarico, who faces Republican Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton in the November election, gave an exclusive interview to Brooke Taylor of Fox News in which he said he had “missed the mark,” backtracking on controversial woke statements.

Concerning his past comment about there being more than two genders, Talarico told Fox News he does not currently believe there are six sexes.

“I’ve missed the mark on some of my past statements. I will be the first to admit it,” he said. “What I meant is that there are two sexes, and then there’s a small percentage of people with genetic abnormalities.”

“Obviously didn’t say it correctly. There are not six sexes. There are two, and I think the reason that politicians in that convention center across the street want to talk about six sexes is because they don’t want to talk about $6 diesel,” he said.

Talarico admitted to Taylor that men in women’s sports is a significant issue in Texas, saying: “I oppose trans athletes playing in girls’ sports if it endangers safety or fairness.”

“Every sport has to be safe and fair. As a former public school teacher, I care a lot about our student athletes. I care a lot about our students. And so, I will oppose trans athletes playing in girls’ sports if it risks safety or fairness.”

Asked if he would vote in the Senate for a national ban on gender surgery for minors, Talarico replied: “Absolutely.”

“I’ve been consistent on this issue,” he claimed. “If you go back and check, I voted for a major amendment to limit the bill to banning surgeries for minors,” he said. “As a lawmaker, my job is to try to sift through everything the bill does. And sometimes there’s stuff in it that’s really harmful, and I have no choice but to oppose the bill as a whole.”

“It’s why I try to use amendments, to narrow the focus of the bill so that it does exactly what we intend it to do,” he added. “It’s what I tried to do with that piece of legislation, and unfortunately, the amendment I supported was unsuccessful.”

Journalist Benny Johnson said at the time: “Of course he’s trying to change his position to get elected. He has also said trans girls were girls, God is non binary and said he ‘loves trans kids.’ No one believes he’s having a change of heart now.”

On Monday, “Fox & Friends” co-host Rachel Campos-Duffy, wife of U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, said: “Talarico may tell you he’s now ‘Woke 2.0. Make no mistake. He was absolutely on that bandwagon when it was happening and he’s lying to the voters when he says that he doesn’t believe in all this gender-ideology leftist stuff.”

🚨
RECORD CHECK: James Talarico is attacking Elon Musk for spending in Texas while Musk lives here, votes here, and built businesses here.

This is personal for Elon. He has lived the damage gender ideology does to kids.

Talarico may sell you “woke 2.0” now. Make no mistake. He was on that bandwagon when it mattered.

He voted against Texas’ ban on gender medical interventions for minors. He is on tape with the radical lines. Now he wants voters to believe he never bought into the left’s gender ideology.

Don’t buy the rebrand. Look at the RECORD.

Ken Paxton. You know exactly what you’re getting.
