Just weeks after he was forced to cut a show short due to a health issue, reports this week indicate that singer Lionel Richie was admitted to intensive care following a weekend concert.

According to the Daily Caller:

Sources close to the situation said Richie checked himself into a local hospital after his performance at The Muny Forest Park Saturday night, according to TMZ.

The outlet reported that he is having tests run and doctors are looking into the possibility that the famous singer suffered from dehydration.

An outpouring of thoughts and prayers soon surfaced on social media:

Dang it, so many have been worried about Henry Winkler being next, and to bubble wrap him, we didn’t even give Lionel Ritchie a thought and now he’s at the hospital!!

Hope he is ok but you don’t just get to check yourself into an ICU like its the Ritz Carlton. Also, he had a similar episode while performing a couple months back i recall.

The Daily Beast added these details:

Richie cut a show short in St. Paul in late June after experiencing dizziness on stage; paramedics escorted the four-time Grammy winner from the venue during an unplanned intermission. He later said he was “doing well” and returned to touring. Richie addressed his prior concert on Saturday.

“Some things have been happening on this tour that kind of shook me up a little bit, because I couldn’t figure out what the hell was going on,” he said. “I went back to the doctor, and he said, ‘You are suffering from dehydration.’”

Throughout the show, Richie was sipping on electrolytes.
