The Lindsay Clancy case just took another shocking turn.
On Tuesday, Clancy returned to court for the first time since her high-profile trial ended in a mistrial due to one heroic, lone holdout juror refusing to acquit her of murder.
And now, Clancy’s infamous defense attorney Kevin Reddington apparently wants you to forget the first trial ever happened.
In a dramatic pivot from the defense’s arguments during the first Clancy trial, Reddington now claims there is insufficient evidence to prove that she murdered her babies.

During the first trial, defense attorney Kevin Reddington did not deny that Lindsay Clancy killed her children. Instead, he attempted to show that she was suffering from postpartum psychosis and should not be found criminally responsible.
On Tuesday, Reddington argued that police “just immediately assumed that this woman is guilty,” and did not properly investigate.
“There’s no evidence that she admitted she did this,” Reddington said, later adding, “Why would she kill those three children?”
Reddington said Clancy has no memory of killing her children, but was told by police that she strangled them.
In her rebuttal, prosecutor Shanan Buckingham said that this is the first time the court is hearing that Reddington is questioning the evidence. Buckingham argued that there is “voluminous” evidence.
Buckingham said the argument that there is not enough evidence to show that Clancy killed her children is “laughable.”

Contrary to what Reddington said, Lindsay Clancy has admitted, multiple times, that she murdered her three children, Cora, Dawson, and Callan.

So, why the sudden shift?
Well, Reddington is pushing to have the case entirely dismissed.
And, I guess he believes that flipping his whole story is a valid strategy towards that end.
On Tuesday, the judge scheduled a hearing for November 2nd to address motions from the defense and prosecution.
The New York Times has more on where the case is headed next:
Shanan Buckingham, a prosecutor, said her team had presented a wealth of evidence showing Ms. Clancy was the killer, and she called Mr. Reddington’s new argument “laughable.” She also noted that prosecutors agreed that Ms. Clancy was suffering from mental illness, but that they believe she still knew what she was doing was wrong.
Prosecutors in Plymouth County have not said explicitly whether they plan to retry Ms. Clancy, 36, who remains in custody at a psychiatric hospital.
The case has drawn global interest from people including true crime followers, conspiracy theorists and politicians — President Trump among them. And Ms. Clancy’s supporters, wearing pink in solidarity, packed a back row of the courtroom on Tuesday. After the hearing, one took time to tell Mr. Reddington that he looked handsome, while another was chastised by an officer for taking a selfie with the lawyer inside the courthouse.
Several of the recent motions filed by prosecutors and lawyers for Ms. Clancy will be addressed in the Nov. 2 hearing. They include the request to investigate the juror who wanted to convict, Ms. Clancy’s motion to dismiss the case entirely and a proposed gag order from prosecutors that would limit what lawyers involved in the case can say publicly.
On a related note, Reddington had another outburst in court on Tuesday while discussing the lone holdout juror Michael Desronvil, whom he wants the court to investigate.
