A Kentucky farmer, self-described as a ‘country hick,’ had a blunt response for an AI company that offered her millions of dollars to build data centers on her property.
“Kick rocks and don’t come back,” she said.
According to the New York Post, Delsia Bare and her mother Ida Huddleston initially agreed to sell their land for a combined total of $26.4 million when approached by the representatives of an unknown AI company.
However, the mother and daughter backed out of the deal when they learned the plan was to construct data centers on the plots.
More from the New York Post:
The mother-daughter duo’s story went viral earlier this year, making headlines in local media.
“If it’s my way, I’ll stay and hold and feed a nation. 26 million doesn’t mean anything,” Bare said.
“As long as I’m on this land, as long as it’s feeding me, as long as it’s taking care of me, there’s nothing that can destroy me if I’ve got this land,” she added.

Bare and other community members have also decided to file lawsuits challenging the construction of data centers in Maysville, the New York Post noted.
The fight over data centers has reportedly deeply divided the town.
