President Trump said on Tuesday that Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) could potentially be deported or “go to jail” amid a federal investigation into her citizenship.

Trump made the comments after Fox Business correspondent Edward Lawrence asked whether an issue with Omar’s age could lead to her deportation.

“Well, she could be. She could also go to jail,” Trump said.

“You know, they keep talking about deportation. No, she could go to jail,” he added.

“This is just my opinion. I think she’s a sick, very dishonest person, who hates our country, and she comes from a country that is essentially not even a country, Somalia,” Trump continued.

“It’s a real s*** house,” he added.

Fox News shared further:

His comments come after border czar Tom Homan said Omar could lose her citizenship and be deported if investigators prove immigration fraud. Federal agents searched her Washington, D.C., home Oct. 12, seizing her cellphone and other possessions.

The investigation centers on allegations that Omar or her father misrepresented her birth year on immigration paperwork. The disputed timeline concerns whether she was a minor when her father became a U.S. citizen in 2000 and qualified for citizenship through him, or was already 18 and needed to apply separately.

Omar has denied wrongdoing. She and other Democrats, including House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., have denounced the investigation as political persecution targeting a prominent Trump critic ahead of the midterm elections.

Speaking Saturday on “The Big Weekend Show,” Homan said the outcome would depend on the evidence.

“Of course, if you lie during the naturalization process, there is a process to denaturalize somebody. We’ve done it before,” Homan said. “And certainly, if the evidence points that way, that could happen.”

Homan said Omar would be held to the same standards as anyone else, while declining to discuss the specifics of investigators’ findings.

Trump also criticized Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz on Tuesday, saying he’s “100% guilty” amid fraud investigations in The North Star State.

“The governor is 100% guilty. He’s 100% guilty. He’s a fraud. He’s a thief. He’s a crook, and he’s getting away by just getting out of office,” Trump said.

More from the New York Post:

The president was joined in the Oval Office by Vice President JD Vance and popular conservative vlogger Nick Shirley, who blew up the internet in December 2025 when he posted a video documenting his attempts to visit Minneapolis childcare facilities.

Shirley’s report implied that the seemingly inactive daycares were swindling the federal government out of millions of dollars.

The resulting political pressure on Walz led him to announce he would not seek re-election in November, reversing his earlier decision to seek a third term.

The Trump administration has launched an investigation in the state, freezing federal child care and Medicaid payments to Minnesota.

Of the 80 suspects indicted in the case, 69 had been convicted as of July. Walz was accused of ignoring whistleblower reports on the matter.

The scandal has been a major centerpiece in this year’s governor’s race between Democrat Amy Klobuchar and Republican Lisa Demuth.

Trump has endorsed Demuth and praised her again on Tuesday, saying: “I only hope a Republican woman who happens to be very respected by everybody gets in because you will see a difference.”
