Texas Democrat Senate candidate James Talarico has repeatedly made blatantly false statements about Christian doctrine, including infamously referring to God as “non-binary.”
And now, we may know why.
As it turns out, the church that Talarico attends uses the so-called “Inclusive Bible,” which takes out gendered language and refuses to call Jesus Christ the Son of God.
The Daily Caller explained:
The Inclusive Bible’s translators say the version goes beyond simply swapping out male pronouns. They describe it as a “re-imagining” of Scripture intended to find “new and non-sexist ways” to express biblical language.
In a section explaining its translation choices, the book states that it avoids using “Son of God” to describe Jesus, instead preferring “Only Begotten,” “God’s Own,” and “Eternally Begotten.” It also changes other traditional gendered references to God, including “Lord,” which the translators say is “sexist” and “classist.”
According to head pastor Jim Rigby, St. Andrew’s Presbyterian in Austin, TX hands out a copy of this woke Bible to every person who joins the church.
An undercover journalist for the
Daily Caller obtained some footage from inside the church and spoke to Rigby.

Leave it to the left to straight-up manipulate the Word of God to fit their deranged worldview.
This could explain a lot about Talarico’s heretical view of Christianity.
Grok provided an overview of some of the incredibly wrong, strange claims Talarico has made about God and Christian teachings:
- “God is nonbinary” (October 14, 2021): On the Texas House floor, opposing HB 25 (a bill requiring student athletes to compete based on biological sex at birth), Talarico said Christians were misusing scripture to “hurt children.” He argued that the first two lines of Genesis use masculine and feminine Hebrew terms for God, concluding: “God is both masculine and feminine and everything in between. God is nonbinary.” He added that trans children are made in God’s image.
- Later clarification: He has described the remark as “intentionally provocative” or “deliberately provocative,” insisting the point was that human categories (like gender) cannot define God, and that this is not theologically controversial. He has cited Galatians (“in Christ there is neither male nor female”) and maintained that most Christians view God as beyond gender.
- “A Christian who hates Christianity” (March 2021 podcast): On the Activist Theology Podcast, Talarico said: “I always think of myself as a Christian who hates Christianity.” He immediately followed by explaining he is drawn back to it because Jesus’ teachings are uniquely radical/revolutionary compared to other philosophies, and compared them to those of the Buddha and other mystical traditions. His campaign has stated he does not hate Christianity but opposes its misuse to justify hate or greed.
- “God is not a Christian” (October 2023 sermon): In a sermon titled “God Is Not A Christian: Confronting Christian Nationalism” at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, he argued God transcends any single religion or human category (“God is so much bigger than our human categories. God is not a Presbyterian. God is not a Christian. God is not a noun at all. God is a verb”).
Maybe James Talarico should try reading what the Bible
really has to say.
It certainly doesn’t support re-writing Scripture to align with woke ideology.
But, it does tell us to be aware of false prophets…
Matthew 7:15-20 says:
“Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. 16 By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? 17 Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.
