Although he’s famously liberal and even more famously atheist, “Real Time” host Bill Maher is nevertheless capable of condemning the deepening antisemitism infecting the Democrat Party.

Most recently, he used his popular HBO program to denounce what he sees as an effort to purge Jews from the party.

As Fox News reported, even the Republican Jewish Coalition admitted it was a rare opportunity to find common ground with Maher:

The segment came as CNN anchor Dana Bash discussed Texas Democrat James Talarico’s outspoken Christianity during a segment on “Real Time,” saying he “wears his faith on his sleeve” in a way Talarico believes could help him.

“Well, in the Democratic Party, as long as that faith isn’t Jewish, you’re good,” Maher retorted.

“Well, you said it.” Bash replied.

Maher then interjected: “Yeah, I said it because it’s true!”

Later in the same article:

When reached for comment on Saturday, Sam Markstein, Republican Jewish Coalition national political director and spokesman, agreed with Maher and spoke of the GOP as the only party still willing to accommodate Jewish people who are proud of their identity and support of Israel.

“It’s a rare occasion when we agree with Bill Maher, but he’s right: there is only one party where American Jews can be proudly Jewish and loudly pro-Israel, and it’s the Republican Party,” he told Fox News Digital.

Maher’s remarks sparked some social media discussion:

Democrats are actively pushing Jewish people out of the party by continuing to endorse and court people who are blatantly antisemitic. It’s impossible not to notice it.

As the Washington Times added:

The exchange comes as faith has become a central theme of Mr. Talarico’s Senate campaign against Republican Ken Paxton, with the Democrat frequently invoking Scripture on the trail even as some Texas Republicans have accused him of blasphemy.

Here’s some additional coverage of the backlash against Talarico:
