This is not so surprising.

Neil Bush, the brother of former George W. Bush, has revealed who he voted for in the highly contested Texas Senate race.

And it’s not a Republican.

In a post on Facebook, Neil Bush announced he voted for Democrat James Talarico.

Mediaite had the full scoop of Neil Bush’s move and provided quotes:

Former President George W. Bush’s brother, Neil Bush, revealed on Tuesday that he crossed party lines to vote for Democrat James Talarico in the Texas Senate race while landing a stinging rebuke of Trump-backed Republican Ken Paxton and President Donald Trump.

Bush, son of former President George H.W. Bush, announced via Facebook that he had cast his early ballot for Talarico, despite spending most of his life as a Republican.

“I voted early today, and I voted for James Talarico for the United States Senate,” Bush wrote on Facebook, arguing that character “matters more than party affiliation.”

“I have been deeply troubled by Paxton’s conduct as Texas Attorney General, particularly his decision to challenge the results of the 2020 presidential election in other states in an effort to help Donald Trump remain in power,” he wrote. “I believe that effort was an affront to our democratic institutions and the peaceful transfer of power. My concerns about his judgment and conduct are hardly mine alone. He was impeached by the Republican-controlled Texas House, although subsequently acquitted by the Texas Senate.”

Neil Bush is not the only member of the Bush family who has announced they will support Talarico.

USA Today revealed another member of the bush family is backing Talarico:

James Talarico, the Democratic state representative locked in a tight, high-profile race for U.S. Senate in Texas, is getting some support from the daughter of a former Republican President.

Barbara Bush, the 44-year-old daughter of George W. and Laura Bush, donated to Lone Star Rising, a political action committee supporting Talarico, Federal Election Commission records show. Campaign finance records indicate a $2,500 contribution from Bush on Sept. 23.

While Bush’s gift is small potatoes amid the hundreds of millions that have poured into Talarico’s campaign, political lawyer Andrew Cates told Houston Public Media, which broke the news on Oct. 16, that it nonetheless could hold symbolic value.
