Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) said there was no evidence of the Trump administration’s allegations that noncitizens voted in the 2020 elections, rebuking the allegations made in President Donald Trump’s Thursday address to the nation.
Speaking in an appearance on CNN’s State of the Union, Fetterman cited his experience as lieutenant governor during the 2020 election, insisting it was “absolutely secure, fair, and accurate.” He pointed out that Al Schmidt, then a Philadelphia city commissioner, was a Republican, and described the election as “fair and safe.”
“Now, until I see evidence that over a quarter-million migrants that are … registered to vote, then yeah, that would make me reconsider some of these things. But there’s no evidence, and I don’t expect that we’ll see any of that,” Fetterman said.
“I don’t know why the president is dragging up all of this stuff. You’re the president. Do something positive … and you are talking about 2020. That’s been settled over six years ago. It’s deeply unhelpful, and that distracts from important things, especially … the Iranian war right now,” he added.

Fetterman has emerged as one of the biggest Democratic voices most friendly to Trump, frequently breaking ranks to side with him and offer praise on issues such as Israel and the war with Iran, much to his party’s chagrin.
Trump’s renewed focus on the integrity of the 2020 election has sparked concern from Republicans, who worry the new push may not be popular.
