Ex-Fox News Star Goes Public On Feud With Megyn Kelly

Former Fox News star Janice Dean has unleashed a blistering attack on Megyn Kelly, accusing her former close friend of cruelly mocking actress Christina Applegate’s devastating health struggles.

The public feud erupted after Kelly criticized Applegate, 54, following the actress’s shocking revelation that doctors recently told her she had been misdiagnosed with multiple sclerosis.

Dean, 55, who has battled MS for more than two decades, blasted Kelly’s remarks as “disgusting” and accused the conservative commentator of behaving like a mean girl.

The controversy began Tuesday when Applegate revealed on her MeSsY podcast that she was “back to square one” after doctors determined she did not have the neurological disease she had publicly battled since 2021.

Rather than expressing sympathy, Kelly questioned how the actress had become such a prominent advocate for the MS community.

“Christina Applegate is really the person I think most people, at least famous people, associate with this disease because she was one of the first to come out and say she had it,” Kelly said.

After playing audio from Applegate’s emotional announcement, the podcast host took aim at the actress’s years of public advocacy.

“I cannot keep up, you guys. I’m sorry, but like the woman who’s made like every public statement about health for the past several years all about her MS, she’s hosting an MS podcast, has now come out to tell us all she doesn’t actually have it,” Kelly said.

“This has all been a wild goose chase.”

Kelly continued questioning celebrities who become public advocates for particular medical conditions.

“She has no idea what she actually has, and I just think this is like the problem with celebrities, wanting to lean into their health problems, and ‘now I will be the face of MS.’”

“She’s crying now because I guess she no longer gets to be the face of this disease, and as she says, she’s back to ‘square one.’ She’s made like a cottage industry of talking about her MS.”

Those remarks proved too much for Dean, who took to Instagram Wednesday night to confront Kelly publicly.

“I’ve kept my mouth shut for a long time about #meangirl @megynkelly.”

Dean revealed that the two women were once extremely close before their friendship reportedly collapsed over a political disagreement.

Kelly “used to be one of my closest friends,” Dean wrote, alleging that the commentator “ghosted” her after Dean expressed disappointment over Kelly’s endorsement of Andrew Cuomo for New York City mayor.

But Dean’s latest criticism centered on something far more personal than politics.

“Having #MS for over 20 years, she knows how long it took for doctors to diagnose me,” Dean explained.

“I think Christina is brave for telling the truth and I’m grateful she became a voice for so many of us.”

Dean also revealed that she has been seriously ill in recent weeks, requiring multiple hospital visits.

“I will have much more to say about this when I’m well enough,” she wrote.

Her response grew even more pointed as she defended patients who speak publicly about their diagnoses.

“Incase you don’t know, I have #multiplesclerosis and I am one of those loser people @megynkelly refers to as wanting to talk about my diagnosis to help others,” Dean added.

Dean was diagnosed with MS in 2005 but did not publicly discuss the condition until 2023, when she described it as an “invisible illness.”

Her health struggles eventually forced her to leave Fox News after more than two decades with the network.

“Ultimately, my symptoms progressed to the point that I can no longer continue working in my role, and my doctors agreed and said stepping away was necessary for my health,” she previously explained.

The disagreement has exposed a bitter personal rift between two recognizable former Fox News personalities.

While Kelly questioned Applegate’s public identification with MS, Janice Dean argued that the actress’s willingness to share her medical struggles had helped others dealing with the disease.

Applegate’s reported misdiagnosis does not mean her symptoms were imaginary, and she continues searching for answers about her health.
