U.S. Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., sometimes known simply as “Spartacus,” will likely sail to reelection in his blue state next month, but that didn’t stop his opponent, Republican Justin Murphy, from an epic debate answer Thursday that had the sitting senator squirming … and the audience cheering.
Video of the Republican answering a question about how he would advise the president on the Iran war has gotten plenty of attention on social media, as the big-haired candidate lets loose with a succinct but powerful history lesson about Iran and its ignominious deeds, and a call for Trump to “finish” the war once and for all.
Murphy, an attorney, said the Iranian Revolutionary Guard is “a cancer on human existence” that has done nothing but “export terror, murder, rape, oppression and assassination to the region and to the world.”
Continued Murphy, “Four decades is enough. The Iranian people have suffered enough. … I would say, ‘Mr. President, put your cowboy hat on, and get out there and kick some a** and get this done and done right.”
Murphy’s answer elicited raucous cheers from the in-studio crowd.
In the side-by-side video, Booker can be seen making faces, raising his eyebrows and showing other signs of disapproval as Murphy spoke.
Response to Murphy’s answer has been predictably positive:
“As an Iranian American, I love every word of his response. I hope he wins,” on X user posted.
A user called LindaRN responded, “This is one of the best answers I’ve ever heard.”
A poster named Mike reacted to Booker’s actions, saying, “Booker is a smug, arrogant a**hole.”
One woman commented, “So satisfying to see a man speak truth so plainly. Also, what a head of hair.”
