CONFIRMED: Armed Bystander Took Out Gunman During Bend School Shooting

More details are being revealed about the horrific school shooting that took place at Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend, OR on Thursday.

It’s now been confirmed that a good guy with a gun stepped in to save the day.

Not only did this armed bystander take down the 16-year-old gunman, who killed multiple innocent people, including three young children.

But, he actively entered the school, pursued the shooter, and shot him on sight!

Watch what the police chief had to say about this hero during a press conference on the incident:

During that same press conference, Oregon Gov. Tina Kotek praised the man who took down the school shooter.

At this time, the identity of this hero has not been released.

However, a video is going viral online from someone who claims to have been driving by when the school shooting happened.

In it, the man shows his red Toyota Tacoma truck with bullet holes from the gunman shooting at him.

At this time, we cannot independently verify the validity of that video.

And, it’s unclear whether the man in the clip is the same one who took down the shooter or if he is a different bystander.

But, it does line up with reporting from NBC News about a phone call to police from someone in a vehicle who was shot at by the gunman:

The 16-year-old suspect in the Silver Rail Elementary shooting was followed by a good Samaritan who saw him enter the school.

The suspect, who has not been publicly identified, was shot by a “community member who had seen the suspect enter the school and pursued him into the school and engaged him,” Police Chief Mike Krantz said at a news conference today.

It’s not clear who that community member was.

Minutes before, law enforcement received a first dispatch call at 12:59 p.m. from a person in a vehicle “who reported being shot at multiple times by a person with a long gun.”

In the following minutes, dispatch received “dozens” of 911 calls reporting that a shooter had entered the school.
