The Senate on Tuesday confirmed Jay Clayton, the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York and former Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission, as the next Director of National Intelligence (DNI).
Clayton was confirmed in a 51-47 vote along party lines.

According to Fox News, Clayton steps into the role permanently after Pulte led an approximate “30% staff reduction.”
