White House press secretary Katie Zacharia is reportedly “transitioning out” of her position after President Donald Trump publicly suggested she reconsider the job, according to Fox News correspondent Aishah Hasnie, who cited a senior White House official Friday.

The stunning development comes less than a week after Zacharia took over the White House briefing room, marking an extraordinarily short tenure for one of the administration’s most visible officials.

Hasnie reported the news on X on Friday afternoon, shortly after Trump’s surprising comments about Zacharia’s future sparked questions about whether she would remain in the position.

Hours earlier, the president revealed that he had personally encouraged Zacharia to reconsider the demanding role.

‘You don’t have to do this if you don’t want to,’ Trump said he told Zacharia. ‘Honestly if I were you I’d reconsider.’

The president then appeared to question whether the high-pressure position was the right fit.

‘Maybe it’s not for her,’ Trump added while speaking to reporters on the White House lawn.

Despite the remarks, Trump made clear that he had no intention of firing his newly appointed press secretary.

Asked whether he planned to dismiss Zacharia, the president offered a notably sympathetic response.

“When I get back, we’re gonna talk. I don’t think Katie should be made to suffer.”

“She’s been brutalized by the media, very unfairly.”

“A lot of people want the [press secretary] job!”

One thing he doesn’t want is for the news to be about her instead of the wins.

It’s possible she remains in a WH role if not press secretary though

‘No, I want her to have a good life.’

Now, Hasnie’s report suggests Zacharia’s time as the administration’s chief spokesperson could be ending almost as quickly as it began.

The White House has not publicly detailed the reported transition or announced who might replace Zacharia.

Her reported departure follows several days of intense scrutiny surrounding her performance in the briefing room and questions about her professional credentials.

Zacharia made her official debut Tuesday during a press briefing that lasted approximately 14 minutes.

The brief appearance attracted criticism from observers who questioned her delivery and apparent nervousness while fielding questions from reporters.

Zacharia later defended the short briefing, explaining that Trump had planned to speak with reporters afterward and that she had limited time to prepare.

She also acknowledged that, in hindsight, she might have been better served by introducing herself without taking questions during her first appearance.

Additional controversy emerged over her legal background after reports revealed that she had not passed the California bar exam despite being described as an attorney.

Zacharia defended herself against suggestions that she had misrepresented her qualifications, explaining that she never claimed to be licensed to practice law.

Before joining the administration, Zacharia worked as a conservative television commentator and served as a communications adviser to Trump Media & Technology Group.

She also previously worked as a spokeswoman for the Department of Homeland Security.

Donald Trump selected Zacharia to replace Karoline Leavitt, who departed the White House in August.

When announcing the appointment, the president praised Zacharia’s longstanding support for his political movement and expressed confidence in her ability to represent the administration.

But the transition has now taken an unexpected turn, with the president openly questioning whether she should continue in the position just days after her first briefing.

If Zacharia officially leaves the role, her tenure would be even shorter than Anthony Scaramucci’s infamous 11-day stint as White House communications director in 2017.

Scaramucci’s brief service became one of the most memorable personnel shake-ups of Trump’s first administration.

Unlike that departure, however, Trump has publicly indicated that he does not want to fire Zacharia.

The president’s remarks suggest he would rather see her reconsider the demands of the position than force her out.

For now, the precise circumstances surrounding Zacharia’s reported transition remain unclear.

But with a senior White House official reportedly confirming that she is preparing to leave the press secretary position, the Trump administration appears headed for another major communications shake-up.
